History

Cedar Ridge High School opened it's doors in the fall of 2010 with freshmen and sophomore students.  The theatre department was established under the direction of Kristie Copeland.  Our first theatre production season kicked off with Larry Schue's comedy, The Nerd , in which  an unexpected house guest arrives and  sets the tone for a socially akward evening for the characters in the play, as well as an entertaining night of theatre for our audiences.  In January of 2011, the Visual and Performing Arts Academy presented our first musical production, FOOTLOOSE.  The Cedar Ridge musical theatre students impressed audiences with their dynamic voices, energetic choreography and charisma on stage.  In our first year to compete in UIL One-Act play competition, our freshmen and sophomore students advanced past their zone and won the opportunity to perform at the district level.  Their talents and representation of the Cedar Ridge theatre department that year layed the foundation for our continued success.

Theatre at the Ridge is excited to welcome our newest theatre directors for the 2012 - 2013 school year, Ms. Laura Kieler and Mr. Will Jones.  We are also looking forward to welcoming the class of 2016 as they embark on their high school theatre journey.
